Over-the-air enterprise solution:
OTA Plus v3
OTA Plus v3 is a scalable, highly flexible full-stack client/server OTA enterprise solution designed for seamless integration into existing automotive back-ends and vehicle infrastructures. The product is geared towards a fast-evolving business and technology environment, with its cutting-edge OTA security framework, microservice architecture and open-source core.
OTA for prototyping & development:
ATS Garage is a cost-effective, feature-rich SaaS platform that makes it easy to build secure, well-engineered OTA updates into prototype and development projects right from the beginning. It allows OEMs and Tier1s to rapidly prototype new offerings, while integrating a production-ready OTA stack early on in the development process.
Security - Setting new standards for OTA security with Uptane.
Uptane, a state-of-the-art security framework, fortifies all ATS over-the-air update solutions, helping make ATS the frontrunner in OTA security. Uptane is funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and designed for the requirements of the automotive industry. It protects even resource-constrained ECUs in the vehicle, is compromise-resilient under extremely adverse attack conditions, and provides OEMs with a high level of flexibility and control to manage software updates and suppliers effectively. The Uptane design mitigates attacks even if an attacker has direct access to a vehicle’s safety-critical components. The result is that any single attack on infrastructure will be contained to that specific component and cannot compromise vehicle safety, and even multiple simultaneous compromises will have little or no impact on vehicle fleets' software.
Background - Our path to an automotive-grade OTA solution.
In 2015, ATS Advanced Telematic Systems was contracted by a European OEM to develop client / server core components of an over-the-air (OTA) update solution. Later on that year, these OTA core components were contributed by the OEM as open source to the automotive alliance GENIVI. Building on these core components, ATS developed its own commercial offering OTA Plus, which was launched in 2016 during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The need among OEMs and Tier1s for a rapid prototyping turnkey solution led to the development of the OTA SaaS platform ATS Garage in early 2017. ATS still leads the over-the-air update activities in GENIVI and, since 2016, also within Toyota-backed Automotive Grade Linux (AGL). Several reference implementations for both organizations are available and were showcased at various conferences and trade shows.
Focus - Developing secure solutions for the automotive industry.
ATS sets itself apart by collaborating with the brightest minds in the industry to offer highly secure automotive-grade solutions for manufacturers and suppliers. ATS is a fixture in automotive industry associations with a shared focus on developing the field for a connected future, leading OTA development activities within GENIVI and Automotive Grade Linux, and is the first cloud-only provider to be accepted into the German Association of the Automotive Industry (Verband der Automobilindustrie/VDA). Cutting-edge technology, industry-leading security through not just adopting, but also contributing to the development of industry security standards, and an in-depth understanding of the automotive landscape make ATS a trusted partner for innovation. ATS delivers the highest level of functionality and scalability for vehicles with its flagship product designed in Germany: OTA Plus.
Technology - Bespoke OTA updating software at its best.
OTA Plus is optimized to run on a next-generation technology stack, with a modular, containerized, stateless microservice architecture. It deploys as a fully managed Mesos cluster, providing instant scalability and reducing deployment and operations costs, obviating the need to worry about platform dependencies, and virtually eliminating downtime. The full platform can be deployed to any cloud service provider, or on bare metal in an OEM datacenter. This also makes it easy to run separate OTA Plus instances in different regulatory regimes around the world, if required. The modularity and open APIs, combined with advanced cluster management tools like Marathon, also make it easy to integrate and interoperate with existing IT infrastructure. No other OTA solution is better prepared for changing customer requirements and capabilities, while providing a bridge to currently deployed systems.
Philosophy - Open Source, for an open mobility environment.
ATS works determinedly toward an open mobility ecosystem that fosters collaborative exchange for a connected future, and development of new and existing companies through open standards and open source. Freedom from the confines of vendor lock-in is central to everything ATS engineers, and the company is an advocate for open dialogue in the industry. Proudly made in Germany by some of the brightest minds in automotive technology, ATS’s modular and secure software for connected cars is characterized by its scalability, easy deployment, and customization potential. ATS aims to be a productive partner, providing unique expertise and tools to make the automotive ecosystem better and promote innovation. ATS is actively involved in associations with aligning philosophies, such as the German Association of the Automotive Industry (Verband der Automobilindustrie/VDA), GENIVI, and Automotive Grade Linux (AGL).
